TEHRAN, Aug6maxpoker. 11 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and 12 others injured early Sunday in an eight-vehicle chain-reaction pileup in the northern Iranian province of Alborz, Iran's IRIB news agency reported.

The incident, involving two trucks, five sedans and a pickup truck, occurred on a freeway between the provinces of Tehran and Alborz at 3:35 a.m. local time (0005 GMT), the report said.

According to the IRIB, five ambulances were immediately sent to the scene and transferred the injured to medical centers.■
