BEIRUTpokertellsvideos, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib on Thursday slammed "Israel's deliberate targeting of civilians in its attacks on Lebanonpokertellsvideos," according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants.

Bou Habib made the remarks during a phone call with his Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide, during which they discussed the latest efforts to spare the region from a comprehensive war amid Israel's escalation in Lebanon and Iran, as well as its ongoing military operations in Lebanon and Gaza.

During their talks, Bou Habib denounced Israel's actions as "a flagrant violation of international laws."

For his part, the Norwegian foreign minister stressed that his country is seeking to de-escalate the situation and "prevent events from getting out of hand."

He said that protecting the interests of the Palestinians and achieving a ceasefire in Gaza requires efforts to avoid igniting a war in the region.

Tensions are high in Lebanon following Israel's killing of a Hezbollah senior military commander Fouad Shokor last week. Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah has threatened retaliation.
